IronMama strikes again
Congratulations to Mama for finishing another IRONMAN race. She completed the Ironman Texas race. This full triathlon includes a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike, and 26.2 mile marathon (for those of you without a calculator, that’s 140.6 total miles of fun). The race was held in The Woodlands, TX, a northern suburb of Houston. It was a VERY hot and muggy day, with the heat index in the 90s.
Mama finished in 16 hours 37 minutes and 47 seconds (that’s a long day), and she beat her previous time by almost 4 minutes. She didn’t finish the race until nearly midnight.
She finished 5th for her division, and she even finished 1st in her division for the swim (again)!
Duffys rock the RedMan Triathlon
Mama and Papa continued their USA Triathlon Tour in September with a stop in Oklahoma City. They both competed in the 2012 RedMan Triathlon. This Half Triathlon included a 1.2 mi. swim, a 56 mi. bike ride, and a 13.1 mi. Half Marathon run- that’s right, folks- a total of 70.3 miles!
They both finished very strong, including an unexpected bike tire change by Papa! Mama won 2nd place in her age group. It was very fun to watch them compete- their bike ride brought them just down the street from our house through Deer Creek!
