Major League fun

We visited a local sports memorabilia shop and met Ty Hensley, the Yankees’ 2012 1st round draft pick. He autographed baseballs for us and was a genuinely nice guy to speak with. He’s looking forward to getting to the Major Leagues as quickly as possible.

Hensley was an All-State pitcher as a senior at Edmond Santa Fe High School. He compiled at 10-0 record, 1.52 earned run average and 111 strikeouts in 55 1/3 innings as Santa Fe reached the Class 6A state baseball tournament.

The Yankees gave Hensley a $1.2 million signing bonus, and then sent the right-hander to Florida to participate in the short-season Gulf Coast League. Hensley was 1-2 with a 3.00 ERA and 14 strikeouts in 12 innings.
